THE HOMESCHOOL FOUNDATION HISTORY
FOUNDED BY HSLDA AS ITS CHARITABLE ARM
The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) founded the Home School Foundation in 1994 as a non-profit 501(c)(3), and the 2 organizations are closely tied in their mission to help and support the homeschool community. HSF is located at the HSLDA offices in Purcellville, Virginia.
HSF originally focused on supporting homeschool groups. God has since expanded our vision, however, to include needy families within the homeschool community.
EXPANDED VISION: HELPING HURTING FAMILIES
We help individual homeschooling families through several funds, beginning with the Widows Fund in 2001. Since then, we have added the Special Needs Children’s Fund, Kids Curriculum Fund, Children of Single Parents Fund, Military Fund, and several others, while still providing grants to homeschool groups within the United States and internationally.
In the last fiscal year, the Foundation raised over $2 million. More than 94% of every dollar we receive goes to program services.
